Frequently Asked Questions

Here's a general list of common questions I get from potential clients. You can click the questions to see the answers. If you have other questions that you don't find here, please call the office at 636.349.2966 to schedule a more in-depth conversation about your particular project and see if we can help you.

  • Are you taking new clients?

About half of my contracts every year come from existing clients and half from new clients who see their home as the investment it is and want to keep it looking nice now & into the future.

  • Do you take small jobs like a bathroom or front door?

Smaller jobs are a great starting place for both of us to see if we like working together. I am also happy to do larger jobs such as your whole house. When I do large projects, I break them up into smaller contracts so you know when / where I'll be working and don't get overwhelmed by the disruption to your daily life.

  • Do you do repairs?

Repairing normal blemishes like nail holes, nail pops, scrapes, anchor holes, and small drywall cracks that are seen at the time of the estimate are included in the bid price for your project. Larger repairs need to be discussed individually but I can repair minor drywall damage like a hole in the drywall left by a doorknob or re-taping a drywall joint where the tape has come loose.

  • What's your hourly rate?

I work by the job not by the hour so you know in advance approximately how much the job will cost. Sometimes there will be additional charges based on the individual situation, surprise problems, you adding additional painting to the bill, etc. I work very hard to keep my clients informed about price and timeline of the project.

  • Do you work on multiple jobs at once?

I work 1 job at a time so I can give my client and their project my full attention and get them back to normal life as soon as possible. Sometimes unexpected situations arise that might delay finishing a particular contract (like the birth of a child/grandchild, a burst pipe, etc.). In those instances I put that job on hold and work closely with my client to arrange a re-start time for a future date and rearrange my current schedule accordingly so all of my clients can get the attention they deserve.

  • Do you use contracts?

I insist on a signed contract and a down payment to secure your place and preferred time frame on my calendar. This helps stop misunderstandings and gives both me and my clients a firm record of what has been contracted in what time frame.

  • Are you insured?

I carry the required amount of insurance for my industry.

  • Do you work weekends?

Weekends are reserved for personal/family time for my clients, my employees, and my own family. I do negotiate after-hours or weekend painting for businesses only so they can continue to do business during normal business hours when I'm not in their space.

  • Do you use subcontractors?

As an all-woman crew, we pride ourselves on a high level of expertise, caring, and attention to detail that just can't be achieved with sub-contractors.

  • Do I have to have the room empty for you to paint?

The room does not need to be empty. However, you do have to remove anything that is delicate, breakable, valuable, and/or not replaceable (like your great-grandmother's tea pot or hand-made quilt). My team & I can usually move the larger pieces of furniture but any areas where items can be stored in the larger pieces (drawers, cabinets, etc.) need to be clean out before we arrive. There are some delicate/awkward/precision items that we do not move like waterbeds, grandfather clocks, pianos, or large paintings.

  • Can you give me a quote over the phone if I know the square feet of the area?

I don't 'ballpark' prices because it gives unrealistic expectations of the situation. I need to see the actual space, assess the condition of the surfaces to be painted, and know what you're envisioning for it to give you an accurate estimate.

  • Do I need to be there the whole time you are painting?

As long as there are no pets allowed to roam the house, no children being left alone and I can reach you by phone with any questions that might come up, you can go about your normal day. If you're not back by the time I leave, I'll follow the 'leaving procedure' we discussed before you left so everybody is on the same page.

  • What's your pet policy?

For our safety and the safety of your beloved furbabies, pets must be kept completely out of the work zone the entire time we are present and away from employees moving from the work zone to our vehicle and back. We have no way to know what might or might not upset your pets so keeping them in a separate area of the home is always the safest policy for them and us.

  • Do I need to know my exact colors before I hire you?

You can contract the job before you finish narrowing down the colors but you will have to make the final decision before I get to painting that part of the project. If you would like some help deciding on colors, I offer a free color consultation with a signed contract.
